The Law Of Motivation
By Min. Roi | Download
Friend, the vision of God for a man's life is conveyed through the Word of God. Habakkuk stood upon his watch to see what the Lord would say, and what he heard was the vision of God for his life. The scriptures say, "Is not my word like as a fire, saith the LORD?" Therefore, the vision of God for every man is likened to a fire (Hab. 2:1-2, Jer. 23:29).
Habakkuk speaks of writing his vision so that when he sees it, he will be motivated to run with it. But sometimes, many get weary in their pursuit of vision, and their enthusiasm seems to fade away. In the Christian race, there is a saying: "Go back to your first love." A lot of people have lost the drive and urgency in the pursuit of their God-ordained vision. They are not pursuing it the way they were when they first found it. The fire has gone down, so their vision is losing color.
King Solomon said, "Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out." Where no wood is, there the vision goeth out. The fire of the vision of God in your heart burns stronger with the presence of wood. It is stated that every object will remain at rest until it is acted upon by an external force. That is, until your vision is motivated by an external force, there will be no progress in your pursuit of a divine agenda. So, it is motivation that gives birth to motion. In fact, it is motivation that gives motion to your motives, and that is why it is called "motiv-ation." What wood is under a fire is what motivation is in the pursuit of a divine assignment. It keeps the vision burning.
Leviticus 6:12 says, "The fire upon the altar shall be burning in it; it shall not be put out, and the priest shall burn wood on it every morning..." For the fire of your vision to keep burning, it takes a continuous supply of wood. This is so vital that the Lord said wood should be burnt every morning! As far as this is in play, your drive would remain, and progress would be inevitable.
It takes wood to keep the fire of your vision burning. Even Jesus needed wood to sustain his vision; his undying passion to do the work of ‘He that sent him’ was a result of the motivation he got from his Father. He said, "My Father worketh hitherto, and I work." His Father was the external force that gave motion to his motives. His undying passion to always go to the other side in the fulfilment of his destiny was because he kept hearing from his Father every day. No wonder he took the world in three and a half years. In fact, he said that by his ‘own self’ he could achieve nothing, but as he heard from his Father, achievements were inevitable (Jn 5:20). The world is still under the burning effect of the vision of Jesus. You would not lose relevance in Jesus' name!
Where there is no motivation, there is a lack of motion, and until you supply motivation, your motives may never see motion. But notice in Leviticus 6:12: "The priest shall burn wood on it every morning." It is a priest that puts wood under your fire. Every vision is conveyed by the Word of God, and it takes the Word of God to sustain it and keep it running. The word "priest" here refers to the sons of Aaron, and in our days, these are people called into the ministry. Ministers have a responsibility to put wood under your fire!
Paul said to Timothy, "Charge them that are rich among you...." You need ministers who charge you, people who propel you to take steps in achieving your God-ordained vision. This is so important that even Timothy, who was charging people, needed someone to charge him. Paul said in 1 Timothy 1:18, "This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare;" Every vision is a prophecy, and it takes a charge to propel you to pursue it like warfare. Therefore, I stipulated this theory I called "The Law of Motivation." It is based on the premise that as long as there is a continuous supply of wood under a fire, it keeps burning. From this and personal experiences, I concluded that it takes some sort of motivation to keep you burning in your pursuit of vision.
Friend, the reason you have lost enthusiasm and urgency in your pursuit is not because you are not fit but because you have neglected the law of motivation. Position yourself for the priests to put wood under your fire. The same way your batteries would run down if you don't charge them is the same way your vision would run down if you don't charge yourself to pursue it. No more ups and downs in your pursuit in the name of Jesus!
Activating the Law of Motivation in Your Pursuit
This law is put into play when you realize certain forces you require for your fire to keep burning. Let's see a few of these forces:
1. The Force of Mentorship
Paul the Apostle in Hebrews 6:12 said, "That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises." Therefore, one of the ways out of slothfulness in your pursuit is to be a follower of those who have been to where you are going. You are not the first man on that road; some people have been to where you are going. Following and watching them propels you to take steps because you have seen possibilities in your pursuit through their teachings. Their teachings, books, and life stories put wood under your fire. The Father is a mentor to Jesus. As he saw what his mentor did, he took steps and produced similar results. He said, "As the Father raiseth the dead and quickeneth them, even so the Son quickeneth whom he will." Friend, iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend. Apply the force of mentorship today in the pursuit of your vision (Proverbs 27:17, John 5:19-30).
2. The Force of Envisioned Joy
Hebrews 12:2: "Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God." The motivation of every farmer to sow his seed today is the joy of harvest that is set before him. The joy of reaping motivates you to sow. Jesus was able to keep going because of the joy he set before himself. Joy would not come and find you; you have to set it before yourself.
This is what Habakkuk did. He wrote the vision down in its actualized form, with all its glamour, so that though he was not there yet when he saw it, he would take steps. Engaging the force of envisioned joy keeps you going. For the children of Israel, their motivation was a land flowing with milk and honey. With this joy they set before themselves, they were able to move from slavery, pass through the Red Sea, and engage in fearsome battles. People who did not make moves for years started making strange moves because of the force of envisioned joy.
3. The Force of Right Words
Job 6:25: "How forcible are right words! But what doth your arguing reprove?" This is where the priests come in. They are conveyors of these right words. God places in their mouths the right words to say that force you to move. There was a testimony I heard Bishop David Oyedepo share of a man who had run into bankruptcy in his business and was about to commit suicide. He decided not to make moves again in life and put himself to a total stop.
But he unknowingly activated the law of motivation when he stumbled on Bishop's book "Born to Win," and the ‘force of right words’ propelled him to move. He was crying while reading the book. His encounter with ‘right words’ was so strong, and today he is doing great in business. According to the testimony, he gave Bishop a briefcase full of dollars.
There is nothing that propels you to move like the right word. I remember a time I sat under Bishop's ministration and the ‘right word’ came my way. He said, "You are the light of the world." That put wood under my fire, so I stopped thinking locally in my pursuit and took steps to reach out to a massive amount of people who did not know me personally. Today, a lot of the people who receive ministry from us do not even know me. All from the ‘force of right words.’
It was this same force that gave birth to this law. Reading a book by Bishop David Abioye, he said, "Take steps to where you are going. Forget about the fear of the unknown. What if you didn't take steps yesterday? Would you be where you are today?" (paraphrased). That propelled me to motion and gave birth to the law of motivation. God sent a word into Jacob, and it made him take steps that imparted all Israel (Isa. 9:8).
Friend, this is how forcible right words are. Ask God to sow the right word into your life! The Word of God is the seed, and the sower sows the Word. The Word of God is the bread of life, and Jesus said ‘if you ask your natural father for bread, he would not give you a stone. How much more your heavenly Father who is in heaven.’ So, ask the Father to sow the right word into your life.
In Conclusion, friend, having seen some of the forces behind the law of motivation, engage them to bring progress in your pursuit. Find the people whose words and teachings motivate you. Listen to them every morning. Activate the law of motivation to get rid of the law of depression in your pursuit, and it will result in amazing achievements towards your vision. Remain blessed.
Jesus is Lord!
