Your Word Is Your Life

You Shall Have What You Say
Your lack of knowledge about the law of gravity does not excuse you from being under its influence. Why? Because it is a law. Natural laws work whether you know it or not! There are also spiritual laws that some may not be aware of but are certainly under their influence daily.
Jesus said, “WHOSOEVER shall say to this mountain, 'Be thou removed and be cast into the sea,' and shall not doubt in his heart but shall BELIEVE that those things which he saith shall come to pass, HE SHALL HAVE WHATSOEVER HE SAITH.” Notice, he said “whosoever.” Whosoever means just anyone, even an unbeliever. That means anybody who says a thing and believes it so much will have whatever he says.
Rev. Kenneth E. Hagin was praying for a man in a coma, and the Lord told him to stop and said that spiritual laws had been placed in motion, and he (Hagin) couldn't change them. You see, this man, at 19, had formed a habit of saying, "I'd never live till 40." He believed these words in his heart and probably forgot about them. But this spiritual law was already set in motion: "he must die before 40." So, before his 40th year, he fell ill and ended up in a coma. Rev. Hagin couldn't change this law because it wasn't set by him. This man had set the law and sadly was in a coma and couldn't reverse it. Hence, he died! His lack of knowledge about this law did not excuse him from being under its influence, and the law worked against him!
Sarah kept on saying, "The Lord hath restrained me from bearing," and for 24 years, she was barren (Genesis 16:2). The children of Israel said, "We be not able to go up against these people." They believed it so much that they could have stoned Joshua and Caleb for it! (Numbers 13:31, 14:10). They never took the land! They all died in the wilderness. Note, that millions of people died because of their words! In our world today, we hear, "I don't know math," "I can't go to heaven," "Nothing good happens to me," "We don't get married early in our family," and so on! Friend, get those words off your lips because each time you speak, you are setting this spiritual law in motion. Don't join the crowd; be like Joshua and Caleb. Two of them made it to the promised land. You too will make it!
Justified or Condemned by Words
Bishop David Oyedepo shared the testimony of a man who worked in a lab. This man came to work one day and was very thirsty, so he quickly poured what he thought was distilled water into a cup and drank it. While drinking it, his colleague came in and shouted, "It's acid, it's acid!" This man, knowing he was face to face with death, remembered, "For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned" (Matthew 12:37). Immediately, he shouted, "It's water!" They tested the acid in the cup and the one in the container and saw that the container indeed held acid, but in his cup was water!
By his words, face to face with death, he converted acid to water! Friend, your words ultimately define your life! If he had played with his words at that moment, he would have lost his life. Justification and condemnation are at the mercy of the tongue! Don't wake up from a bad dream and confess nonsense! Be like the man in the testimony and turn that evil report into a good one by your words.
I often tell students that ‘you may make a mistake in your answer sheet but never make a mistake with your words!’ Understand that words backed up by strong beliefs are words that can justify or condemn a man. Jesus said to have faith in God, which means to have faith in the word of God. The difference between heaven and hell for you is determined by the words you speak because "with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation" (Romans 10:9). Salvation there also means deliverance, healing, financial liberty, etc.
When Stephen was faced with death, he said, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit" (Acts 7:59). When Paul and over 200 people were faced with a shipwreck, going 14 days without food, he stood up and said, "Be of good cheer, for there shall be no loss of any man's life among you" (Acts 27:21-44). Friend, your words will ultimately define your life! In some cases, it's either your words or your life! Here's God's word to you: "Declare thou that thou mayest be justified."
The Perfect Man
Friend, Pastor Chris once said, "Spiritual maturity is measured by the use of your tongue." James 3:2 says, "For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man and able also to bridle the whole body." Notice, a perfect or mature man does not offend in words! Jesus, a perfect man, said, "For I have not spoken of myself, but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say and what I should speak" (John 12:49). He didn't speak of himself; he spoke the words of God, and the Bible classifies this as perfection.
The Bible says the Sower sows the word. God expects us to speak the words that He spoke to us. If He says, "Ye are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus," that's what we ought to say. Paul said, "Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect, but I follow after" (Philippians 3:12). Paul was following after, speaking the words of God, putting God's word in his heart and mouth! The Bible says we've not received the spirit of fear, so say it! God said, "We having the same spirit of faith." Put that in your mouth.
The more we speak what God says in His word, the closer we are to perfection. For instance, the word says, "Greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world" (1 John 4:4). If you go about magnifying the devil with your words, he will oppress you because you have what you say. The prophet said, "I prophesied as I was commanded," that is the rule of the game.
The Sower Sows the Word
Friend, God's word is the most powerful thing in the universe! Did you know that one word from the Lord is all we need to put us over in life? You must understand the value of a word from God. One day the Lord said to me, "There shall none of my words be prolonged any more, but the word which I have spoken shall be done" (Ezek. 12:28). When God speaks, everything moves. "He spake, and the locusts came, and caterpillars, and that without number" (Ps. 105:34). The prophet said, "Thy words were found, and I did eat them, and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart" (Jer. 15:16).
Do you want to live a joyous life? Find God's word and put it in your mouth! That's the way to victory. Paul calls it the sword of the Spirit. One semester, I checked my results and didn't like what I saw. I asked the head of the department, and he said it was my fault. I asked my course adviser, and he said to rewrite the courses. But I knew the value of a word from God. I said, "Lord, the Sower sows the word, sow a word into my life," and he said, "You are blessed; you can't be cursed. Failure is a curse."
Friend, night and day, I would pick up my Bible and speak those words that He said to me from Numbers 23. It wasn't too long before everything began to move, and I saw failure turn into success. Even the course that I didn't fail but had a D was changed to an A. Why? Everything moves when God speaks! God's word is the most powerful out there. Remember that scripture that says, "The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich and addeth no sorrow." The blessing of the Lord is a sworn word from God! It can change your life. Friend, what words do you put in your mouth? Words from a TV show? A comic book? Or the word of God? What you speak makes all the difference! Your words? Your life!
Angels Act on My Words
I had a vision a couple of years ago. I found myself in a bustling marketplace filled with people buying and selling. In this vision, a large man in a brown leather jacket followed me closely wherever I went. Suddenly, a very long black snake appeared, causing panic and terror among the people. I stood still, observing the chaos, while the large man remained right behind me, watching as well. Finally, I spoke up in tongues. When I did, this large man went, held the snake up, and tore it into two! Friend, I believe this man was an angel.
Talking about angels, Hebrews 1:14 says, "Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?" The Greek word translated as "minister" is also translated as "serve" in other verses. This means angels have been sent to serve you and me – the heirs of salvation. Remember what the devil said to Jesus? "For it is written, He shall give His angels charge concerning thee..." (Matt. 4:6). He was reciting Psalm 91!
You see, even the devil knows that angels have been sent to protect the Lord, and the Bible says, "Ye are complete in Him." That means, for them to protect Him, they would have to protect us because we are in Him. But you see, angels act on your words! Don't get it wrong, they obey the Lord, not you! "Bless the LORD, ye His angels, that excel in strength, that do His commandments, hearkening unto the voice of His word." (Ps. 103:20).
They obey His commandment! They execute His word. But what is His commandment? "You shall have what you say," "Life and death are in the power of the tongue." What is His word? "By your words are ye justified or condemned."
Friend, "...neither say thou before the angel, that it was an error..." (Ecc. 5:6) because "thou art taken with the words of thy mouth." You've got to watch your words because angels are all around you waiting for you to speak. They ask you, "Sir/Ma'am, you shall have what you say, what will you have today?" Say "favor," say "cause my money to come," say "guide and protect me from all evil." Friend, angels act on your words! Don't keep them waiting like the angel in my vision. Speak the word! Speak in the tongues of men and angels.
The Apostle Over My Words
Friend, if there is one thing you must note in scripture, it is written in Hebrews 3:1: "Consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus." The word "profession" is also translated as "confession," and we know that an Apostle is a "sent one." Therefore, consider the sent one and High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus.
Jesus has been sent by God to ensure that what you say comes to pass! Jesus said, "Without me, ye can do nothing...if ye abide in me and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what you will and it will be done unto you" (John 15:5-7). Christ Jesus expects us to depend on Him for the words we should say. You see, Ezekiel prophesied as commanded and he got results. Although Jesus is sent to see that our words come to pass, He still expects us to depend on Him for words.
"The words I speak unto you, they are spirit and life" (John 6:63). When faced with challenges, what we need is RHEMA! It’s the revelation of the Word that puts us over. Jesus said to Peter, "Flesh and blood has not revealed this to you," that's what Rhema is; it's words revealed or spoken by the Spirit to you. These are very powerful words. Paul calls it "the sword of the Spirit, which is the word (Rhema) of God" (Ephesians 6:17).
I remember when I was challenged and needed a revelation from God to overcome. I knew the Sower sows the word, so I asked Him to sow a word seed into my life! When that word came, it became a two-edged sword in my mouth! I spoke that word, and Jesus, the sent one, made sure it came to pass.
Friend, words are the most powerful things in the universe. They can pull down and pull up. Life and death are at their mercy. My prayer is that you choose your words carefully. Learn to speak the words you receive from the revelations given to you!
Jesus is Lord.
