The Promptings of THE KING

Kenneth E. Hagin said that many people look for the spectacular and miss out on the supernatural. We all want God to speak to us, but most times we keep waiting for a spectacular leading from God, maybe an audible voice or some uncommon thing. It is good, but let's not miss out on the simplicity of the gospel. The supernatural often lies in simple things.
One day, the king of Babylon, Nebuchadnezzar, said, "I saw a dream which made me afraid, and the thoughts upon my bed and the visions of my head troubled me" (Daniel 4:5). Notice, it wasn't just a dream, it was a dream that troubled him. He couldn't forget about it. This dream troubled his head. At times he would try to forget it, but then it kept coming! Then he decided to know the meaning and called for Daniel, and found out that the dream was "the decree of the Most High..." (Daniel 4:24). You see, it was the trouble of his heart that led him to find out the meaning of the dream. He would have missed the decree of the Most High if he didn't yield to the troubled heart.
Some years ago, I was sitting at the last row of the pew in Church and I heard a voice on my inside say "Ruso, Ruso, Brigi, Brigi, Dege, Dege." I spoke it, and it sounded the same way I heard it. At first, I thought it was a new tongue. I was excited thinking my tongue had changed. But my heart was troubled! Those words kept on coming that week. Each time I got to pray, I'd cry like a wounded lion, lying down on red sand! It went on until I discovered that it wasn't a new tongue. It was a message from the Most High (THE KING) and I had to decode it. I don't think I would be where I am today if I did not decode that message. But what pushed me to decode it was this trouble. I call it the promptings of THE KING.
This is also what they call an inner witness. It is not a voice per se, but it is prompting towards a particular thing. It is not so spectacular, but very supernatural. Paul the Apostle neglected this prompting of THE KING and almost lost his life. He said, "And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there" (Acts 20:22). The word 'bound' there refers to resistance. There was trouble in his spirit, not necessarily because of doom, but because it was a prompting from THE KING. Most times, when THE KING wants to speak to you, he sends his message with an alarm. The alarm keeps ringing until you pay attention.
Jeremiah, the great prophet, made a decision and said, "I will not make mention of him, nor speak anymore in his name." But THE KING sent a message and he said, "...his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay" (Jeremiah 20:9). That was the prompting of the KING. He was tired of holding it back because it troubled him. In fact, he could not stay!
On a Saturday evening, I had this thought to start writing messages on bulletins and sending them out to people. But I thought that was just me, so I threw it away. This thing kept on coming and it troubled me to the point that I couldn't pay attention the next day, being a Sunday morning. The pastor was teaching, yet my heart was troubled until I gave in and said, "Lord, speak to me by your word unless I won't move." The Lord is so merciful; he got my attention towards this direction and confirmed it by his word.
Kenneth E. Hagin said that the primary way God leads his people is through this inner witness, and I agree with him. It is not necessarily a voice; it is a prompting, an inner knowing. I have been led to several locations through these promptings. Even in ministering to people, there are times that you can't just get your mind off some people until it gets so hot that you would pray for them. Even in teaching, you may just be prompted to say certain things or look up certain scriptures. This message itself was written because of a prompting. I believe this message is sent directly to you! That business, that lady or man you are considering for marriage, that crossroad—God has been prompting you. It keeps on coming. You can't seem to take your mind off it. It's supernatural. Take time to inquire about it. Pay attention. God is sounding his alarm like he did to Moses with the burning bush. He is looking for your attention! My prayer for you is that you won't miss your place in destiny due to carelessness! Remain blessed!
Jesus is Lord!
