Invisible Friends

Friend, where there is corruption there is evil communication. Dereck Prince once said, that there is no such thing as suicide, every suicide is a murder committed by an invisible person. This reminds me of the story of Sisera and Jael, the wife of Heber. Sisera, a defeated soldier escaping from the army of Israel, sought protection from his enemies in the house of Jael. Jael offered to protect him and brought him into her tent. Sisera had grown thirsty so he asked her for a cup of water but instead, she gave him milk and covered him with a blanket.
He also told her to stand by the tent and to say no to any man who asks about his whereabouts. She agreed and gave him protection from his enemies. But "then Jael Heber's wife took a nail of the tent, and took a hammer in her hand, and went softly unto him, and smote the nail into his temples, and fastened it into the ground: for he was fast asleep and weary. So he died." (Judges 4:21) . Then she offered his dead body to his enemies.
You see, even a punch to the temple can knock a man out, but she drilled a tent nail into his temple and it down the ground. Sad right? But the stories of the Old Testament are actually mysteries in the New Testament and serve as an example. The Lord once said to me that every battle fought in the Old Testament is a representation of the battles we face in the New Testament. But in our case, we wrestle not against flesh and blood but principalities and powers, in short, 'demons.' (Eph. 6:12)
The tent in the story represents the body of a man, Sisera represents a person and Jael a demon. Paul said, "And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?" (2 Cor. 6:15). The Bible said, we are Christ's (Gal 3:29) so, who is then is Belial and who is an infidel? Well, who is an infidel but the devil himself, he is Belial. You see, Paul was not just talking about the fact that believers should not relate with unbelievers but should not also relate with demons. Sisera and Jael seemed to be friends, she satisfied his needs more than he expected. He asked for water, she gave him milk. Covered him with a blanket and protected him. Demons meeting the needs of man!
Acts 16:16 tells us of "a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination...which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying" This young lady by relating with a demon made a lot of money for her masters. They became friends with this demon spirit to the point that when Paul cast out the spirit. They went to lock them up because they just cast out a friend, who meets their needs. But you see, like the story of Sisera and Jael, the devil has only but one mission, "to steal, to kill and to destroy."
There is another story that validates this fact in 2 Samuel 13:1-3;
And it came to pass after this, that Absalom the son of David had a fair sister, whose name was Tamar; and Amnon the son of David loved her.
And Amnon was so vexed, that he fell sick for his sister Tamar; for she was a virgin; and Amnon thought it hard for him to do anything to her.
But Amnon had a friend, whose name was Jonadab, the son of Shimeah David's brother: and Jonadab was a very subtle man.
Amnon had a friend! Notice this friend called Jonadab was very subtle, but who else is subtle? "Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made." (Gen 3:1) Amnon in the light of the New Testament had a demon as a friend. Amnon confines in his friend, just like Sisera asked for water and instead of sound advice, Jonadab gave Amnon a suggestion to meet his need, in order to satisfy his lust. This was how Amnon lost his life and it was Jonadab his friend that announced his death.
Jonadab, the son of Shimeah David's brother, answered and said...Amnon only is dead: for by the appointment of Absalom this hath been determined from the day that he forced his sister Tamar.
2 Samuel 13:32
Friend, in my study I discovered that there are two types of friends, visible and invisible friends. Who are your visible friends and who are your invisible friends? 1 Jn 4:1 says "Believe not every spirit..." 1 Cor. 14:10 also says "There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world..." There are spirits speaking every day. Jesus one time said to Peter, get thee behind me Satan, because he knew that there was a voice who had suggested words to Peter. Some people have demons as friends and they do not know.
They suggest to them various ways in which they can satisfy their needs, lust and pleasures. I know this for a fact. Let me ask you this, who do you think teaches little children immorality, who teaches them to steal and tell lies. Without any form of outside information, a little boy or girl learns how to masturbate. That is an invisible friend in play, satisfying the want of man. Sisera had a friend who offered him milk and protection. The young damsel had a friend who offered her money through sorcery. Amnon had a friend who helped him satisfy his lust. Who are your friends? And who is meeting your needs?
My mother told a story of a woman who claimed her husband could no longer satisfy her sexual needs. But she said there is one man who satisfies her sexually. My mother in curiosity asked who the man was, and she said this man came in her dreams! Sad but true, she had made an invisible friend, one who met her needs aside from God. You see, those who have spiritual friends like this end up in one destination, death. Amnon died, Sisera died. But before the young lady and her masters died, Paul casted out the demon. In the name of Jesus and by the power of the Holy Spirit I cast out every evil invisible friend around your life. Amnon had a friend, and his friend killed him. I have seen some deliverance cases where the devil says "I will kill him, I will kill her", It is all kill. But look at this, he first satisfied you before he tried to kill you. At one point or the other, we may have asked for water and the devil offered us milk.
The Lord was telling me about some he called "live prophecies", these are predictions that must occur in the life of any believer. It works on the strength of "The servant is not greater than the master", which means if they tempted the master, they would tempt the servant. One of the temptations our master Jesus faced was the offer of milk from the devil. Matthew 4:8-9
Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;
And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.
You see, the devil wanted to meet his needs. He wanted to be his source. This is the same today for every believer. It is a live prophecy; the devil will try to be your source. He will give you suggestions on how to meet your needs outside God. Whatsoever God does not give you, can kill you. Your source determines your lot. I was asking the Lord for ways out of the trap of evil spiritual friendship. Here is what he said to me James 4:7 “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
One way is to cast out the devil and bind him. The young lady and her masters did not die, because Paul cast out the demon. So, challenge every evil invisible friend, cast them out of your life in the name of Jesus! Bind them in the name of Jesus! The Bible would not say we should resist the devil, if we didn't have the power to do so. Nevertheless, you cannot serve God and mammon. This is why James said "Submit yourselves unto God", simply put "LET GOD BE YOUR SOURCE", There came a point in the life of Bishop David Oyedepo when he said, "Whatever God cannot give me may I never have it, and wherever God cannot take me, may I never get there." Until we make God our source, we may never be free from evil spiritual friendship.
This was what Jesus did, he told Satan in Matthew 4:10 "Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve." That is, whatever God cannot give me, may I never have it and wherever God cannot take me may I never get there.
Friend, Let God be your source, don't go looking for the devil to satisfy your needs. Once he satisfies you, he tries to kill you. Remember, every devil that is trying to kill you may have once satisfied you. Therefore, submit yourself unto God by letting God be your source then resist the devil and he will flee from you. Remain blessed.
Jesus is Lord!
